Josh Bernstein has done it again. He’s created a new show, Into the Unknown, that is both entertaining and educational. I was a big fan of his show on the History Channel – Digging for the Truth. Now he has a similar style show on Discovery – Into the Unknown. I do miss the Indiana Jones style hat.
What I like about Josh’s show is that he’s very respectful of the cultures and religions he’s exploring. He’s also very respectful of the history that he is exploring – and he looks good in a kilt (see the Roman Gladiator episode). 😀 It seems he’s not afraid of showing that he dosn’t know something. And he always seems interested in what his interveiwee are saying. And he doesn’t seem to ask stupid questions or “dumb down” the program.
I was very disappointed when Josh was replaced with Hunter Ellis. Hunter just didn’t have the right stuff for the show. He did a really interesting show on the Huntley, but the show just didn’t have a spark. I’m very pleased that Josh has a new show digging into the unknown truths.

I had a bunch of open threads from Season 2. Some have been answered, some are still pending and may not be answered. So here are my open threads… answered or not.
- Sheriff Jack Carter is remembering Henry Deacon using the memory mess-er-upper device thingy. This hasn’t been addressed as of Episode 5 Season 3.
- Nathan Stark asks Allison Blake to remarry him because he can’t live without her and Kevin. Well we all know now that Allison does decides to marry Nathan but he just goes floating out into time leaving Allison free to have a relationship with Jack. But will it happen?
- Carter and Callie Curie are dating. Where is that going? This is going nowhere as we all now know. Callie has not been written in and Allison is now free to start dating Jack. If she will.
- Where did Beverly Barlowe go after she was transported out of the bunker? We may never know this answer. This is still an open thread.
- Where did the Artifact go after Kevin was transported? This may never be answered. Stark was the one who was interested in the artifact. This is still an open thread.
- What’s going to happen to Henry? Is he coming back to Eureka? Thanks to Eva “The Fixer” Thorne, Henry is back and completely pardoned. But for Eva’s own evil purposes. Ah… what will come of this?
- What will happen to Jack if Henry doesn’t come back? How will he figure anything out? Irrelavant. Not important, not happening.
Here’s the new Eureka psychiatrist thought. Dr. Abbey Carter is a shrink, but if they bring her back Jack can’t have a relationship with Allison. However we’ve discovered in Episode 4, Season 3 that Jack’s sister Lexi is ALSO a shrink. And she’s going to have a baby and needs a loving family to be around… so MAYBE, not knowing the future, she’s going to become the new Beverly. Just a new thought.

Mythbusters Shark week special is pretty good. It’s about the only thing I watch during Shark week. I would probably get in the water with the sharks. Especially if I had chain mail on.

Do you want to know more about the whys of cooking? Good Eats. I’m watching American Slicer. It’s a show about knives. Everything you need to know about knives. How they are made, cutting boards, how to choose a cutting board, how to choose a knive, why should spent 100 dollars for a knive, how to use the knife and more. Did Alton Brown cook? I don’t know, we’re only at the 1st commerical break. But then again isn’t slicing, chopping or paring part of cooking? Hmmmmm. Let’s watch. This is one of my favorite cooking shows, it’s about the cooking, it’s fun, and it’s educational.

I’ve been watching Bone Detectives with Scotty Moore. It’s on the Discovery Channel. It’s ok. I would enjoy it tons more if they didn’t try to make it so dramatic. Last night was a Maya episode. The content was pretty interesting. But there was this shot of a slowly spinning ceiling fan and a dripping faucet. Ok. Dramatic, interesting, but what on God’s green Earth does that have to do with the Maya and archaeology? Nothing and that’s my point. This show has real potential if they would stop with the melodrama and concentrate on the archaeology and the history of the area.

I am a big Eureka fan. I remember when they were plugging the series. I thought it looked interesting, but had potential to be dumb. But boy was I wrong. I have the DVD of Season 1 and pop it in the DVD player when ever I need a little back ground distraction. In other words, I over watch Season 1. Coming in following posts are things that I’ve found. Continuity error and just other random stuff. By the way… there are probably spoilers if you’ve never watched.
