Blogging

August 23, 2008 //  by editor

Well, it looks like WordPress has taken all it’s templates away.  Some of them are coming back, but not all of them. My template is no longer available. It’s wonderful to have a Beloved who is a webmaster (www.thewebelves.com) and has created a wonderful website (www.kalarhythms.org) and a great blog template.  His blog his own custom design. Which he would be delighted to share with everyone… for a small fee.  Well, the template is free, the set up costs a bit. Not much. My blog layout was designed by someone else (see the bottom for the kids who created the original template) but my Beloved modified it to add the things I wanted, like tags. But once he did that, I realized that I have WAY to many tags and started to clean it up. That turned out to be a bit job. I had tags that were categories. From the redundant department of redundancy. It’s a challenge to keep the balance between too many tags and not enough definition of posts.

My Beloved has set up many blogs for other, but just recently started writing his own. He said to me … “This blogging is fun.” Hey, I knew that. His blog is nice. It’s clean and the content is the main focus, not the layout.

Nathan Stark is Dead

August 22, 2008 //  by editor

“And now for the answer to the only question you probably care about right now—Is Stark Really Dead?—the answer is YES.”

For now.”

From http://revealthescience.blogspot.com/2008/08/goodbye-nathan.html

This is from Eric (Wallace`s?) blog. So Nathan Stark is dead. Hmmm. I agree with the various boards … Nathan went out with class, dignity, and style. Ed Quinn, Colin Ferguson, and Neil Greyson did a great job. And we (my Beloved & founder of kalarhythms.com) were totally shocked that Nathan got “dead.” But this is SciFi and how many times has a dead person reappeared? Carson Beckett just popped into my mind (I was watching an old episode of Atlantis). So how dead is dead? Yeah, we know it was the actor’s choice to leave … and good luck to him in his future endeavors … but they left his “death” so open. It was a cool effect … floating off into time. Eric (the writer) ended his blog with “for now” and Stark ended with “See you around, “Jack.” Or something close. Open ended. Lotsa folks are looking at Michael Shanks as Dr. Daniel Jackson. Is it the same reason … Michael (sounds like I’m on 1st name basis with him don’t it) left because he wanted his character to grow and Showtime wanted the character to stay the same (if my fuzzy memory serves me right). Once SciFi took over the show, Michael came back and the character grew. Did Ed leave for similar reasons?

I’m not sure how I feel about Stark’s untimely demise. I will miss the character – he was delightfully snarky. I will miss the actor – he was delightfully handsome. And I’ll admit I was one of the ladies looking for more 1/2 naked Stark. But I’m still not sure how I feel about him leaving.

I would love for Allison & Jack to get together. That wouldn’t have happened if Allison had married Nathan. But I’m sure the Allison/Jack relationship is not going to happen now. Allison will be to heart broken. I’m sure their friendship will grow and strengthen. My guess is at least thru the end of the season there will be no Jack/Allison romance. Hopefully – in my opinion anyway. I’m also sure the the sexual tension will still be there in full force.

On an aside, I liked Callie Currie. She and Jack were cute together. Also, while I’m off on a tangent, here’s a thought – Beverly Barlowe is now gone, GD needs a psychiarist, Dr. Abbey Carter fits the bill. That would add a whole fun dynamic. Just my thoughts.

I was also getting a little tired of the whole Stark/Carter sniping at one another. It just seemed over done to me. Yeah, Stark was marrying Allison, but at the end of season 2 they had actually been able to work together without sniping at each other. Granted the whole marriage thing did change it … and they were trying to save Allison & Kevin, but… The sniping was still starting to get on my nerves. Carter & Stark (Stark could have been gracious about winninng the heart of the fair damsel) worked well together. Carter came up with the ideas and Stark “made it so.” Whaddya gonna do?

I would have liked to see Nathan stay. I would have liked to see him & Carter come to a detante and be able to work together. I would like to see Allison & Carter get together. Except that would’t have happened if Stark was staying. I like the Zane/Jo relztionship. But then again Jo & Taggart were cute too.

Speaking of… Bring back Taggart!!! I love Matt Frewer and the Taggart character is wonderfully quirky. There’s got to be a need for a vet! Sister Lexi brought “Grandma” with her.

Many shows have survived the loss of a major character. Let’s hope Eureka does too.

Goose Watch – Day 2

March 13, 2008 //  by editor

On my way to work on Oak Tree Road there is a house that has a pond in the front yard.  For the last 2 years (at least) there have been a pair of Canadian Geese who make their spring & summer home there.  They raise their chicks and then leave to wing their way where ever it is that geese go in the summer.  I was wondering if they were going to make it back this year and last night on the way home… Tah-Dah!  There were Mom & Dad goose in the pond swimming side by side.  Now comes the fun part… watching the nest building, egg laying and chick raising.  Two years ago after the chicks were hatched I stopped and Dad “attacked” my car.  Head down, wings up and hissing like a snake.  It was kind of amusing to have a 20 lb goose attacking a 2 ton car… but he did in defense of his family.  I moved on so I wouldn’t cause him too much distress.

This morning on my way to work, they weren’t doing anything yet… they were sleeping or eating in the shallow end of the pond.  I didn’t get too good a look… I had a car behind me.  I was starting to worry that Mom & Dad weren’t going to make it back this year.  They are a bit late.  I think.

David (founder of www.kalarhythms.com) made a funny last night.  We were talking about the geese and he said I wonder if the father’s name is Lou.  I said I haven’t named them and I’m sure the family who owns the pond has named them… but Lou?  He said… that way when the egg hatch and if there’s a boy in them he’d be… ready for this… it’s corny…. Louis Gossling, Jr.  Well…. I think it’s funny.  So now we have a name for Dad, we just need a good name for Mom.  Or I could just keep calling them Mom & Dad.  More later on The family Goose.

Oh… and there is no Day 1.  I didn’t write anything last night – which would have been day 1.

Politics & Shameless Plugs

February 4, 2008 //  by editor

Ok.  Here’s another shameless plug for www.kalarhythms.org

I just wanted to get on record, before super Tuesday, what My beloved has been telling me for the last 4 years.  This election year was going to rock and roll.  (his time frame, my words).  He has told repeatedly that the 2008 election was going to very exciting because it’s in the cycles.  The most exciting since the 1960’s.  And looking at all the hoopla that we’ve been seeing, he’s been right.  So I figured since politics really is all about shameless plugs, I’d put my shameless plug in for www.kalarhythms.org   Go there, learn more.

Here is a shameless plug for my Beloved’s sight.  www.KalaRhythms.org.  Go there.  Learn the “secrets” of the rhythms of time.  It’s very interesting.  And I’m not just saying that because he’s my Beloved.  It really is interesting.
