Good Eats

April 6, 2008 //  by editor

Do you want to know more about the whys of cooking?  Good Eats.  I’m watching American Slicer.  It’s a show about knives.  Everything you need to know about knives.  How they are made, cutting boards, how to choose a cutting board, how to choose a knive, why should spent 100 dollars for a knive, how to use the knife and more.  Did Alton Brown cook?  I don’t know, we’re only at the 1st commerical break.  But then again isn’t slicing, chopping or paring part of cooking?  Hmmmmm.  Let’s watch.  This is one of my favorite cooking shows, it’s about the cooking, it’s fun, and it’s educational.

Goose Watch

April 4, 2008 //  by editor

untitled.JPG
Ok, Mom & Dad Goose are officially nested.  YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH!  I was worried for a couple of days.  I coudn’t find either of them.  Above is my rough (and I mean ROUGH – yes, your 6 year old could do better) drawing of the pond.  There are 2 places that the Geese nest.  One is on a small built up mound in the shallows on the right side of the pond where all the brown reeds are.  Yes, they are reeds.  The next place is on a man made platform that is about 3 feet square.  It’s under the tree behind a small rise.  You can see the Geese as you are traveling north on Oak Tree, but when you are coming south, the platform is hidden behind a small rise in the lawn.  And Mom Goose blends in with the brown around her, so if her head is down… and there is a car behind you…. she’s easy to miss.  I saw Dad Goose Tuesday on the lawn and then Wednesday swimming alone and I knew Mom was on the nest.  Yesterday morning there was no one behind me and I stopped for a look.  Mom wasn’t too thrilled with the stop.  I didn’t stay long enough to cause too much distress.  But I know that they are there and they have nested.  Now we just wait for BABIES!

Mmmmmmm Grapes

March 30, 2008 //  by editor

My Beloved (founder of www.kalarhythms.org (ok so it’s ANOTHER shameless plug)) got some green seedless grapes at the grocery store yesterday.  And boooooy are they good.  Mmmmm.  It’s a perfect little snack.  They are good frozen, cold, warm or pressed into juice.  And these grapes are tight and juicy and sweet.

Choosing a look

March 30, 2008 //  by editor

I didn’t realize that it would be so hard to choose a look for my blog. Wordpress has something like 1,600 themes to choose from.  There isn’t any with cows or koi so those 2 were out.  At least none that I could find.  I managed to narrow down the list to 4.  Granted I didn’t look at every single last theme.  There were criteria that was important to me.

  • Cat Sitting on a Wall
  • Sticky Notes
  • Translucent Fluidity
  • YAAARR!! Tis Me Blog!

But how do I choose which on I really want?  I’m leaning toward Sticky Notes or Translucent Fluidity.  Cats… I have enough of them… do I really need them on my blog?  I have 3 around me right now.  Steve & Houdini are snoring and Bubbies is not happy with the room she has.  She wants more space.  Add Archimedes on top of the upside down Steve.

Translucent Fluidity is pretty and purple.  Sticky Notes is fun.  And it the main part kind of looks like a notepad.  I don’t like the name of the boat on the YAAARR!! one, but it’s fun.  So.  Let me go get my quarter and deside.  And probably by the time you read this… I’ll have chosen, so you’ll know.

Goose Watch

March 28, 2008 //  by editor

Mom and Dad Goose were swimming in the pond this morning.  I was going to stop and watch but there was a guy right on my tail.  I was also going to pick up a sheet for the house to see how much it costs, but the box was empty.  But the geese were in the pond.
