Today was the a follow up doctor\u2019s \u00a0<\/span>\u2026 Now that I think about it \u2026 I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen that movie.\u00a0Sorry… off topic (again).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Today was the a follow up doctor\u2019s appointment.\u00a0 <\/span>And we had some good news, some not so good news and some \u201cget out your video camera people\u201d news.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Good:\u00a0 <\/span>Me!\u00a0 <\/span>I am healing nicely and I was told I am being a good patient!\u00a0 <\/span>How about that? \u00a0<\/span>I am trying to be positive and do as the Doctors say. \u00a0<\/span>David looked at the x-rays and said the Mona Lisa doesn\u2019t look any better than they do.\u00a0 <\/span>I think he\u2019s exaggerating just a bit.\u00a0 <\/span>The PA is pleased with my progress and the shattered bone is knitting (of course my bones knit!) back together.\u00a0 <\/span>Also my night brace was approved (I\u2019ve only been wearing it for 2 weeks) as long as I don\u2019t try to walk in it.\u00a0 <\/span>Girl Scouts Honor \u2013 it\u2019s only for sleeping aaaaaannnnd maybe lounging about the house.\u00a0 <\/span>No weight bearing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bad: I\u2019m just over half way into this.\u00a0 <\/span>I have at least 4 more weeks of scootering about.\u00a0 <\/span>But I can start to put weight on my foot 25% for 2 weeks graduating up to 50% – as long as it is in the boot.\u00a0 <\/span>Then in 4 weeks another round of x-ray\u2019s and assuming all is healing as it currently is then we begin physical therapy.\u00a0 <\/span>So I\u2019m looking at probably 6 to 8 more weeks of scooter & boot.\u00a0 <\/span>The doctors are being very conservative and this seems to be taking forever because of the shattered bone.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ugly: Me on crutches!\u00a0 <\/span>Ok maybe not ugly, but giraffe on roller skates does come to mind.\u00a0 <\/span>I need to be slightly more car friendly on 4\/26 (the PA Primary Election) so I got crutches today.\u00a0 <\/span>I will need a lot of practice between now and then.\u00a0 <\/span>Get out your video cameras \u2026 this might just go viral.<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally surgery to remove the pin.\u00a0 <\/span>PA Cutie Pie called\u00a0the pin\u00a0by its technical name.\u00a0 <\/span>Yeah, ummm the big pin is what we will call it.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s a good news type thing.\u00a0 <\/span>It has to be in place 12 weeks.\u00a0 <\/span>Ok we are 11 weeks from when the placed it in my person.\u00a0 <\/span>Only one more week and it can come out.\u00a0 <\/span>Which isn\u2019t really convenient time wise for me.\u00a0 <\/span>No problem, it can stay in until after I can walk again.\u00a0 <\/span>As a matter of\u00a0fact some doctors never remove the pins\u00a0unless they break.\u00a0 <\/span>Ummm, break?\u00a0 Isn’t that what started this whole mess – a break? <\/span>Thank God that\u2019s not the philosophy of this office \u2013 they like to remove the pins while they are still intact.\u00a0 <\/span>I like that too.<\/span><\/p>\n

So that\u2019s the news from Lake Woebeme.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not all great, but it\u2019s all good and I am moving forward.\u00a0 <\/span>So watch out for your toes!<\/span><\/p>\n
