{"id":111,"date":"2008-03-13T13:21:10","date_gmt":"2008-03-13T13:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/taciej.com\/blog\/?p=108"},"modified":"2008-03-13T13:21:10","modified_gmt":"2008-03-13T13:21:10","slug":"goose-watch-day-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taciej.com\/blog\/goose-watch-day-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Goose Watch &#8211; Day 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On my way to work on Oak Tree Road there is a house that has a pond in the front yard.\u00a0 For the last 2 years (at least) there have been a pair of Canadian Geese who make their spring &amp; summer home there.\u00a0 They raise their chicks and then leave to wing their way where ever it is that geese go in the summer.\u00a0 I was wondering if they were going to make it back this year and last night on the way home&#8230; Tah-Dah!\u00a0 There were Mom &amp; Dad goose in the pond swimming side by side.\u00a0 Now comes the fun part&#8230; watching the nest building, egg laying and chick raising.\u00a0 Two years ago after the chicks were hatched I stopped and Dad &#8220;attacked&#8221; my car.\u00a0 Head down, wings up and hissing like a snake.\u00a0 It was kind of amusing to have a 20 lb goose attacking a 2 ton car&#8230; but he did in defense of his family.\u00a0 I moved on so I wouldn&#8217;t cause him too much distress.<\/p>\n<p>This morning on my way to work, they weren&#8217;t doing anything yet&#8230; they were sleeping or eating in the shallow end of the pond.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t get too good a look&#8230; I had a car behind me.\u00a0 I was starting to worry that Mom &amp; Dad weren&#8217;t going to make it back this year.\u00a0 They are a bit late.\u00a0 I think.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>David (founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kalarhythms.com\/\">www.kalarhythms.com<\/a>) made a funny last night.\u00a0 We were talking about the geese and he said I wonder if the father&#8217;s name is Lou.\u00a0 I said I haven&#8217;t named them and I&#8217;m sure the family who owns the pond has named them&#8230; but Lou?\u00a0 He said&#8230; that way when the egg hatch and if there&#8217;s a boy in them he&#8217;d be&#8230; ready for this&#8230; it&#8217;s corny&#8230;.
